English scramblers to race in N.Z.

The runner-up in the 1968-69 New Zealand international moto-cross series, Randy Owen (England); is returning to the Dominion to compete in selected meetings during November.

He will be accompanied by his brother, Rowley Owen, who is also a prominent rider, and the outstanding New Zealander, I. Miller, of Blenheim, who is returning to his homeland for a short visit after two years in Europe. The meetings at which the riders will compete have yet to be decided. A number of clubs have been offered the services of the trio. The three riders, who are coming to the Southern Hemisphere mainly for an Australian international moto-cross series, have had their visit arranged by the leading North Island scram-

bier, R. McLaren, of Hamilton. The Scottish rider, J. Aird, will also be in Australia and there is still a possibility that he will compete in New Zealand. VISIT BY JAPANESE Confirmation had been received that a Japanese team on Japanese machines was willing to participate in a New Zealand international moto-cross series, the secretary of the Christchurch International Moto-cross Committee (Mr J. A. Fraser) said yesterday. The team was prepared to come to New Zealand in January for a full series. Christchurch would be applying for one of the international meetings. The size of the team or the factories the riders will be representing are not yet known, although at least three riders are expected. Negotiations were started with the Japanese last season but because of slow progress the international series had to be abandoned.
