GRADING SYSTEM
N.Z. soccer referees (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Auckland’s national soccer league clubs are backing a grading points system for referees next season. The scheme would provide for clubs to award points to referees according to their performances in national league games. Both teams in each game would submit their assessment in the form of a points score to give a two-sided view of a man’s refereeing. At the end of the season, a chart of the points awarded would help to determine a list of the top referees in the country to be given priority for national leagu- games in 1973. The proposal on behalf of the Auckland clubs will be put to a meeting of the Rothmans National League Committee in Wellington on Sunday.
