Bigger scores in British Rugby under new rule
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON. British Rugby players and administrators said yesterday that it was too soon to establish how successful the experimental four-point try has been. The law was introduced for the first time in club games last Wednesday and was used in the knock-out cup on Saturday. The four-point try will be used in all matches this season, including internationals.
It will be introduced in Australia next season. i Mr R. E. Prescott,'the secretary of the English, Rugby ■ Union, said: “It is early days i yet to evaluate the new four- . point try-scoring system but ’ already match results reveal many more points being scored. “It may be difficult as time > goes on accurately to appre- ! ciate the standard of play ■ between two teams when so many points have been re- ; gistered. "However, I believe it is a . rule well worth the trying.”
