Interest in pallet pool
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. Several firms were interested in setting up a national pallet pool, the chairman of the Exports and Shipping Council (Sir John Ormond), said in Wellington today after a meeting of the council. Some firms were considering amalgamating to form a consortium, he said. “The idea of a national pallet pool seems quite accepted.” The council had received a report from its packages and handling committee, which said a matter of prime consideration would be the determination of a pallet of standard size which would be generally acceptable to the main users and road and transport firms. The committee has been given authority to employ a business consultant.
