A sponsorship programme for the medical care of families in Hong Kong, a new venture for the Canterbury branch of Project Concern, has already received $630, says the president (Mr I. D. Bell) in his report to be given at the annual meeting next Tuesday. . Pupils of Villa Maria College must be specially commended for the fund-raising efforts for Project Concern this year, Mr Bell says. A total of $433 was raised by the college, part of which money had been used to spohsor medical care for two families in Mexico.
Mr Bell expresses appreciation of the support given by the people of Canterbury to Project Concern, and reports- an increase in annual income from $2350 in the previous financial year to $2971 last year.
“Of this money, $l6OO has been sent to Hong Kong and Vietnam for the work of Project Concern; $839 was spent on air fares for volunteers sent to work overseas; and $415 was paid overseas for the medical care of sponsored families,” says Mr Bell.
