Improvement expected
(N.Z. Press Associatidn) AUCKLAND, Sept. 8. Smith-Biolqb, Ltd, expects an increase in profit and improved earning rates in the year to January 31, the directors of the Auckland manufacturer and distributor of pharmaceutical and medical supplies say in their interim report. This confirms the forecast made in the last annual report. Sales in the six months to July 31 were 14 per cent higher than those in the first half of last year. Costs were contained at about budget levels. The interim dividend was steady at 5 per cent, payable on October 22, ex October 14. The total for last year was 13 per cent.
In the year to January 31 last the net profit was increased 21.1 per cent to $100,579, but earning rates eased to 11.5 per cent on shareholders’ funds and 20.6 per cent on capital.
