New submarine
Britain’s latest nuclear submarine, H.M.S. Swiftsure, was launched at Barrow-in-Furness yesterday. The £3om vessel is expected to be ready to join the Royal Navy by the end of next year. She is Britain’s seventh nuclear-powered submarine and the first of a new class of high-performance, deeperdiving submarines. —Barrow-in-Furness, Sept. 8.
