Opposition to election

North Vietnam yesterday declared the October 3 Presidential election fa S<. .th Vietnam to be "illegal and invalid” and said that the Vietnamese Communists “in areas controlled by the United States and their puppets (the South Vietnamese Government) would certainly oppose' this farce, the Associated Press reported. The Communists “are strengthening their unity to struggle and broaden the front of opposition to the United States and (South Vietnamese President Nguyen van Thieu)” said "Nhan Dan,” official organ of the North Vietnamese Communist Party. It termed the election "a tragi-comic one-horse race.”
