Electronics stimulus

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 3. The electronics profession badly needed the stimulus of new activities if it were to be kept on its toes, the chairman of the Wellington branch of the Electronics Institute (Mr J. F. C. Johnson) said today. Mr Johnson was commenting on the recommendation of the Broadcasting Authority that the existing N.Z.B.C. channel be converted to colour by the end pf October, 1973, at the latest. He said the delay would be useful in enabling the industry to prepare and phase in new equipment. But the Wellington branch was disappointed that other major improvements, such as frequency-modulated broadcasting, had not been recommdhded similarly, he added.
