Shantytown popular
Though not officially opened until January 23, 1971, Shantytown had many visitors for a month before, and on opening day over 5000 were there. In the busy tourist months which followed, between 6000 and 7000 visited the town each month, and it is now included in the itinerary of most of the bus tours visiting the West Coast
