UNDER-14 SOCCER
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. Otago won the South Island schoolboys under-14 soccer tournament at Memorial Park, Mosgiel, yesterday, when it beat Canterbury 4-3, in a fast and exciting match. Otago was unbeaten in the tournament, which was played over seven rounds. Eight teams competed.
A South Island squad selected at the conclusion of the tournament is: L. Peacock, R. Courtney, A. Barber, B. Blair, M. Hancock (Otago), P. Bremmers, R. Mulligan, P. O’Gorman, M. Lewis (Canterbury), G. Miller, N. Kilpatrick, P. Slotemaker (Nelson), S. Reid, M. Keys (South Canterbury). Scores:— Round seven.—South Canter* bury 10, Eastern Southland 1; Marlborough 3, Southland 0; North Otago 3, Nelson 2; Otago 4, Canterbury 3. Final points were: Otago 14. South Canterbury 12, Canterbury and North Otago 8, Nelson 5, Marlborough 4. Southland 2, Eastern Southland 1.
Rugby.—Results of Rugby league and Rugby union matches on Wednesday were:—Rugby league: Huddersfield 12, Hull 20; Oldham 12, Leeds 16. Rugby , union: Bath 12, Pontypool 6. !
