Revenue up at Lyttelton

The revenue collected by the Customs Department at Lyttelton during August incerased $465,396, or 20 per cent, to $2,785,927 compared with August last year.

Hie total revenue since April 1 is $1,807,318, or 14.4 per cent, higher than last year at $14,340,738. Customs and excise revenue for August was up by $263,363, or 13 per cent, to $1,910,956, and revenue collected from sales tax increased $201,747, or 30 per cent, to $869,534. For the five months this year, these items increased 17.5 and 7.5 per cent compared with the same period of last year. Light dues rose from $1626 to $3225 for August, and from $12,012 to $13,439 for the five months, while miscellaneous revenue declined from $3525 to $2212, but rose from $15,158 to $15,371 for the five months.
