CAR HITS TREE
Man killed on Coast (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, September 1. A well-known resident of Jacobs River, South Westland, was killed and his wife was injured when their utility vehicle ran into the trunk of a large tree which had been blown across the road during a fierce storm on Tuesday night. The dead man was Alexander John Wilson, aged 57. His wife suffered minor injuries. The vehicle and its occupants were discovered when residents of Jacobs River went to clear away the tree about 11 p.m.
The scene of the accident is about 25 miles south of Fox Glacier.
