Good run-bull sale at Kaikoura

| A catalogue of 104 Angusi and Hereford bulls met a ; ready sale at Kaikoura this week, and a complete clearance was made at auction. A feature of the sale was the inquiry shown for a consignment of 20 Angus bulls from J. Ross Murray, of Clarence Bridge. These sold from $550 to $lBOO, for an average of $892.50. For a run-bull sale, this ranks with the best in the country this season. Mr Murray won the W. M. Williams Trophy, awarded to the vendor with the best average, and he also won the cup for the highest-priced beast. This lot was bought by the Beachcroft and Beachview Stud, of Southbridge. The estate of W. N. Masefield (Kekerengu) sold 31 Angus bulls from $350 to $950 to average $553; S. J. Chaffey (Kekerengu) sold 19 polled Herefords at $4OO to $llOO, to average $618; the estate of T. Davies (Charwell), 16 polled Herefords at $350 to $BOO, averaging $525; and J. G. Murray (Clarence Bridge), 18 homed and polled Herefords at $250 to $lOOO, averaging $639. Details of sales were:—
