At all Gough,Gough & Hamer Branches this sophisticated IBM computerised teleprocessing system now gives immediate stock availability The extra equipment for teleprocessing was commissioned yesterday. This teleprocessing system in Gough, Gough & Hamer’s Christchurch Head Office links the IBM Computer to a network of terminals installed in Branches throughout New Zealand. Systems design and programming was undertaken by Gough, Gough & Hamer’s ’ Data Processing team in Christchurch. Within seconds an "on-line” Branch will obtain complete up-to-the-minute information and order the supply of any part requested by a client:—an extremely valuable service. All information relative to customers’ orders placed with Branches right throughout the country is thus entered directly into the computer system.
