Russian sales at fair high

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 1.

The Soviet Union’s stand at the Wellington International Trade Fair has secured a $125,000 order for canned Russian sea products from a New Zealand importer.

Butland Industries, in Auckland, has paid this sum to distribute to the New Zealand gourmet two brands of canned fish taken from Russian waters and prepared in the Soviet Union. In their 3500 square feet of space—double that used in the 1967 “fair—the Russians have used every inch for attractive displays, ranging from consumer goods to enormously heavy machinery. It is believed that large orders have been placed for some of the machinery, while a good deal of interest has been taken in the Russian motor-cycles. So far 100 motor-cycles have been sold from the court. Today was Russia’s day at the fair, and crowds packed the exhibits throughout the morning. ________
