Horticulture award
(N,Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 26. The Loder Cup award for 1971 has been made to Mrs Briffault, of Whakatane, the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Carter) said yesterday. The award is made annually by the Minister to encourage the protection and cultivation of native plants in New Zealand. For the last 20 years, Mrs Briffault has selflessly devoted herself to the cause of native trees and indigenous plants in general, and to their establishment in public and private gardens in Whakatane and the surrounding district, says the citation to the award.
