No agreement reached
After three days of negotiations, the freezing com-
panies and unions reached no agreement for a new award and it was decided to adjourn the proceedings until October 19, said Mr F. E. McNulty, the workers’ advocate, yesterday. "The union’s claim of a 12 per cent wage increase, inclusive of a cost of living allowance of 4.8 per cent, was rejected by the employers, who offered an increase of 2c an hour conditionally oh acceptance of the employers’ other claims,” he said.
This offer only represented an increase of about 1.5 per cent, with a maximum for piece-workers at about 1.2 per cent, arid this offer was unacceptable to the union, said Mr McNulty.
