Jan’Beau for cups
(U.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE. The Whangarel owner-trainer, Mr K. Webb, last night declared Jan’s Beau a certain 'starter for this year’s Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup because the four-year-old has been weighted out of New Zealand racing. ~ “if you asked me a week ago I would have told you Jan’s Beau would not go to Melbourne,” Mr Webb said last night. "But now the weights have got us down we have decided to make the trip.” Jan’s Beau has been weighted bn B-7 for the Melbourne Cup and 8-S for the Caulfield Cup. Last Saturday, as a three-year-old, he carried top-weight of *-11 in the Taumartinul Gad Cup.
