Fast dory for Chathams
A fast fishing dory for Use at the Chatham Islands has just been completed by a Lyttelton firm, Stark Brothers, Ltd, * which has built numerous small craft, including other powered dories, already at the Chathams. The new dory- is the fastest commercial craft yet built by this firm, according to its managing-director (Mr F.’ Stark) who said that the dory' ordered for a customer in. the Chathams.
The dory, which is being shipped to the Chathams by the motor vessel Holmdale, is 20ft long, has an Bft 6in beam, and its 9in draught will allow it to sail close inshore. Its 100 h.p. VolvoPenta inboard-outboard diesel engine will take it as fast as 25 knots.
