Miss Scott’s new record

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, Aug. 5.

Miss Sheila Scott, who is 44, has claimed her 100th air record—for the last stage of her flight from Darwin to London. When she landed at Heathrow Airport she had lowered the existing'five-day light aircraft record for the 34,000mile trip to 3$ days. The crowd of about 2000 who welcomed back her tiny blue and white Piper Aztec cheered as Miss Scott stood on a wing and drank from a magnum of champagne. “I have not had a proper sleep for three days, but I have broken the record,” Miss Scott said happily. In all, she is claiming seven new records, including being the first person to fly solo over the North Pole. “Now 1 would like to take up sailing," she said. “I have always wanted a little boat, and would like to sail across the Atlantic.”

She added that the flight had cost her about £65,000, and that she would sell her aircraft, probably do a lecture tour, and write a book to help to pay for it.
