Pill remit rejected
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, August 3. The National Party’s annual conference endorsed the rejection by a committee of an Auckland division recommendation that the contraceptive pill be freely available to married and single women by a doctor’s prescription as a charge against the Social Security account. The remit led to lively debate, but was unanimously rejected. The chairman of the committee Mr J. O’Hallavan (Waikato), told the conference that no one had been prepared to vote in favour of the remit.
