Hunter concussed; struck on face
(New Zealand Press Association) 0 AMARU. The All Black winger, B. A, Hunter, was in a satisfactory condition in Oamaru Hospital last night. He was admitted after suffering mild concussion during yesterday’s Rugby match between Otago and North Otago.
Hunter is under observation, and it is not yet known when he will be discharged. Early fears that he may have also broken his nose proved unfounded. Hunter sustained the injury nine minutes after the start when he was struck on the face by the ball. His attempted grubber kick over the head of his opposite B, Carlyon, hit Car-
lyon in the chest and rebounded into Hunter.
Otago beat North Otago, 11-6, the All Black full-back, L. Mains, scoring all of his side’s points with a try, two penalties and a conversion. But in spite of this his kicking was below form; he missed five attempted penalties, three of them from relatively easy positions, and a dropped goal after getting the ball from a scrum in front of the posts. North Otago led 6-0 in the opening stages, after P. Ford had kicked two penalties from 45 yards out with a slight trailing wind in the first five minutes. If the chairman of the national selection panel, Mr I. M. H. Vodanovich, who attended the game, was looking for All Black material, it is doubtful if he found it.
