Dialogue evangelism for Christchurch
The Rev. J. Chapman, of Sydney, will visjt Christchurch next month to conduct meetings in the homes of parishioners.
He will introduce dialogue evangelism in private homes. The Rev. L. E. Pfankuch. vicar of St John’s Parish. Woolston, which is sponsoring the visit., said that home meetings had been held previously. but there had been little participation by those present. Dialogue evangelism was an attempt to get people talking by providing a relaxed atmosphere and encouraging provocative discussion. Homes would be chosen in various suburbs. The Rev. R. Thompson, of the St John Baptist Church, Latimer Square, said that it was unlikely that dialogue evangelism would become regular after the visit, but it would add to present concepts of house meetings. „ Dialogue, evangelism was not an attempt to increase church membership, but an attempt to bring the Christian Gospel • into the home without fostering partisan obligations, he added.
