SECOND-LINE STOCKS BEAR THE BRUNT OF SELLING
j T h ‘ retreat continued on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, second-line shares bearing the brunt of the selling pressure. There were a number of good rises among the shorter list of rises, but the undertone of the market remained weak.
Most of the leaders were’ steady, but most of the price changes were downward in 1 this section. The finance companies were mixed, with small moves. B. Finance was 3c higher at 268 c while Broadlands and C. were a cent or two down. H.B. made a useful gain of' 7c to 225 c. Marlborough Lucern gained 5c to 175 c.
I Fletcher remained easy, losing 3c to 175 c. Andrews and Beaven was 2c down at 110 c. and Mason lost 7c to 98c. Falls of 5c were recorded by South British and Welling ton Publishing. P.T.Y, lost 7c to 185 c, ex rights to the two-for-five pre-; mium isued, and the Taupe i Tortara shares were marked; down 7c to 113 c, while the! rights were halved in price! at 4c.
