Aquitaine well yields gas
(N.Z. Press Assn.—-Co wight/ MELBOURNE, August 4. Australian Aquitaine Petroleum Pty, Ltd, reports that the Petrol No. 2 well in the Timor Sea off Northern Australia has yielded a gas flow of 9.2 m cubic feet a day during a 10-hour drill stem test through a 3/Bin bottom hole choke.
Petrel No. 1, situated 3.3 miles north-west of Petrel ;No. 2, blew out at 13,057 ft jin August, 1969. The gas flow at Petrel No. 2 is from a shallower interval than that encountered at the time of the blow-out at Petrel No. 1. Partners in the venture are Arco Australia Pty, Ltd, with 50 per cent Interest, Australian Aquitaine Petroleum Pty, Ltd, with 37.5 per cent, and Esso Exploration and Production Australia Inc., with 12 per cent.
