(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Au*u«t 3. Heavy-welgbt bullocks firmed *4 to *5 a head at this week’s Bumside market. The top bullock fetched *224 and the best heifer *lB4. The yarding w *» <3OIn a small yarding of store cattle, some Hereford steer calves from Ranfurly fetched *lO5, and heifers of similar breeding *BB. Values for a yarding of 500 lambs improved 40c to 50c a head. Although quality in the prime sheep section was the worst of the winter, hoggets iniproved 30c and ewes 30c. The yarding was 1400. Values were:—
Prime cattle: Top oxen, *l9O to *224; heavy, *l7B to *189; medium, *155 -to *168; light, *l4O to *152; unfinished, $l2B to *135. Best heifers: to *184; heavy, *147 to *156; light, *122 to *l2B. Butchers’ cows, to *148; heavy, *127 to *140; medium. *l2O to *122; light. *lO9 to *ll5.
Bunners and vealers: Runners to *138; large vealers, *ll2 to *128; medium, *105; small, *5O to *6O; suckers, *55.
Pigs: Heavy baconers to *34.50; medium, *29 to *3l; butchers* porkers to *29; medium, *26 to *27; small, *l3 to *22. Prime lambs: Heavy, to *9; medium, *7.80 to *8.30; light, *7.20 to *7.40.
Prime sheep: Best hoggets to *9; medium, *7.80 to *8.20; light, *7.20 to *7.40; six-tooth wethers, *6.30; full-mouthed wethers, *5.30 to *5.70. Butchers’ ewes to *5.20; medium ewes. *4.40 to *4.60; light, *3.80 to *4.20.
