Bennett not replaced
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. A Press Association message from Auckland, published in “The Press” yesterday, stating that the West Coast scrum-half, N. J. Bennett, was not able to travel to Auckland to play for the southern . zone against the northern zone in the final Rugby league trial on Saturday, and had been replaced by P. R. H. Brown (Canterbury),. was riot correct, a spokesman for the West Coast League said yesterday. Bennett had been unable .to go north earlier, and it is hoped , that he wjH travel to Auckland either tonight or tomorrow.
The acting-secretary of the West Coast League (Mr G. T. McKenry) telephoned the manager of the southern zone team (Mr J. R. William?) and the coach (Mr D. L. Blanchard) in Auckland .yesterday morning and was told the report was not correct, and that Bennett had not been replaced.
League side.—-The North Can terbury eight years representative Rugby league team to play Canterbury at the Show Grounds on Saturday Is: —G. Caplil, C. Swift, T. Goodyear, 1. Bell, A. Riwaka, R. Tuta, G. Skipper, P. Whakatlhl, R. Isles, G. Robinson, B. Ahnefeldt, P. Harris.
