FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation. —A small depression is moving south towards the West Coast of the South Island. A strong north-east to north airstream covers most of the country. Forecast: Canterbury.—North-east winds, strong at times about the coast; overcast and cool; a period of light or moderate rain in most places. Marlborough and Nelson.—Strong northeast winds, slowly moderating; rain heavy at times this morning in Nelson and the Sounds but easing in the afternoon and tending to clear; mild. Buller and Westland. —North-east winds, strong in exposed places in the north; unsettled ; rain at times and some heavy falls in the ranges in Buller and north Westland; temperatures moderate.
