Mr E. W. Capill, postmaster for the day at the Glenelg Children’s Health Camp, franking 1971 health first-day covers for children yesterday. Inset is a photograph of one of the three health stamps; this stamp—the 5c denomination commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the School Dental Service. The 3c and 4c stamps feature schoolchildren playing hockey. Nurses in training at the School for Dental Nurses spent part of yesterday selling first-day health stamps and covers in the Hereford Street and Fendalton post offices.
The Chief Postmaster (Mr M. T. Reedy) said that the sale of stamps had been very heavy. Advance orders from business houses before yesterday amounted to more than $15,000 compared with just under
$12,300 last year. There had also been advance orders for 3000 first-day covers. He said that the Increase could be attributed partly to the fact that this year three stamps were on sale, where there were two last year.
