Paintings for biennale
A valuable collection of works by three New Zealand artists was flown to Brazil from Auckland recently. Bound for Sao Paulo, the consignment was the direct result of an invitation from the Brazilian Government to New Zealand to take part in this year’s “cultural shop window,” The Sao Paulo biennale. The New Zealand works are paintings by Ralph Hotere of Dunedin, and Michael Eaton of Christchurch, and mobiles by Ray Thorbum, of Palmerston North. All three are recent scholarship winners. Mr Egton is an art lecturer at the Christchurch Teachers’ College, and Mr Thorbum lectures at the Palmerston North Teachers’ College.
