A six off every ball

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright! LONDON.

A former Australian test cricketer, N. Hawke, slammed each ball of a six-ball over for six in a centenary match at Thombury in Gloucestershire, at the week-end.

Hawke, aged 32, who now plays as a professional in the Lancashire League, was playing for a brewery team—the Whitbread Wanderers—in a match to celebrate the centenary of the Thombury club. Thombury is the ground on which W. G. Grace first achieved fame.

Four of Hawke’s sixes cleared the roof of a nearby hotel as he hammered 79 in 36 minutes. The bowler was D. Hawkins, the former Gloucestershire all-rounder. Hawkins is now the chairman of the Thombury Club. Last week Hawke played for an M.C.C. XI against Scotland.
