FINANCE COMPANIES IMPROVE ON DULL SHAREMARKET
The finance group of companies was strong in a generally dull market on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. The industrial leaders drifted lower, however, while trading companies and retailers were mixed.
Renewed interest was, shown in the finance companies and most prices moved' higher, aided perhaps by some switching. Associated Group Securities. at 150 c. Broadlands at 108 c and U.D.C. at 202 c were' 2c firmer, while C.S.I. firmed) 1c to 145 c. B.N.Z. Finance shares. and[ [rights moved up strongly: again with both showing' gains of sc. Carter Consolidated im-j (proved 2c to 149 c, and Fiet-' cher was 1c firmer at 191 c, ex a 6c dividend. Smith and Brown responded to the one-for-five bonus announcement with a 7c rise to 156 c. Schofield jumped 20c to 680 c. The shares are ex a 22Jc dividend today. I Among the falls, Alex Har-| Ivey was 5c lower at 385 c, land C.P.D. lost 2c to 113c.| ’Feltex. Golden Bay, Forest,[ I N.Z. Steel, and South British i were 1c lower.
