Insulation by-law
It was quite wrong for Mr P. V. Hansen, of the Building Research Association, to say that action on the Waimairi County Council’s housing insulation by-law had been taken on a completely unscientific basis, said the county chairman (Mr D. B. Rich). Commenting on a statement by Mr Hansen published on Saturday, Mr Rich said: “He should have been better informed before making such a statement. There was exhaustive investigation by the council, including consultation with the Regional Planning Authority.
“The use of insulation must reduce air pollution because its effect is to reduce the consumption of smoke-pro-ducing fuels for the same amount of heat.”
