Stretcher for brigade
A Neil Robertson stretcher will be presented to the St John Ambulance Brigade this evening by the Social Credit League. The stretcher, which costs $lOO, has been bought with the proceeds from several housie evenings organised by the league. Made of canvas and wood the stretcher is used for all types of rescues. It is fitted with ropes and the special design enables it to be wrapped round an injured person so that he can be raised from the hold of a ship or lowered from a cliff or building safely. The brigade already owns one stretcher, but according to the publicity officer (Mr C. R. Tremewan) the old one will be now be used for training purposes while the new one is kept at the ambulance headquarters ready for rescues.
“In the past, we have had to do training at the headquarters and could use the stretcher only when it wasn’t needed, as it has to be readily available all the time,” said Mr Tremewan.
