City Council works
Among tenders accepted by the City Council last evening was one of $33,240 submitted by the New English Contraction Company of Christchurch for the No. 2 Major Hornbrook reservoir.
The only other tender was for $42,208.
The same company was awarded the contract for the Malcolm Avenue bridge with a tender of $56,671. This was the lowest of four ranging to $70,183.
The acceptance is subject to the Heathcote County Council agreeing to meet half the cost because the bridge is on the boundary.
For alterations to the Waltham overbridge the W. Williamson Construction Company. Ltd, gained the contract with a tender of $14,342. It was the lowest of three, with a highest being $28,469.
