The presses roll on
The press in Britain may be in difficulties, with newspapers suffering falling revenue, but the manufacturers of presses themselves are not.
A 8.8. C. industrial item reports that five giant newspaper presses, capable of printing up to 70,000 copies an hour, and of providing colour-printing matching the best available in North America, have been ordered by the Toronto “Daily Star” from a British firm. The first is complete and ready for shipping. The cost of the five is nearly £3,000,000 and other orders worth £2,000,000 have been placed by a publisher in New Zealand and a paper in Britain.
