Film on Sobers
Gary Sobers, captain of the West Indies and of the English county team of Nottinghamshire, is by general consent the finest all-round cricketer in the world—many say the greatest ever. But he is also a man who believes in living life to the
full—and says that when his way of doing so interferes with his cricket, it will be time to give up the game. “A genius—but a human being,” is how Clyde Walcott, West Indies tour manager described Sobers in "Roar of the Crowd,” which analyses Sober’s brilliance as a player, questions his judgment as a captain and shows him enjoying life away from the game. This 8.8. C. half-hour documentary ■ has been bought by the N.Z.B.C. but has not yet been scheduled.
