The Common Market
Sir, —As a recently converted anti-Common Market man I feel obliged to point out the dangers of over-con-fidence in the New Zealand camp. Although Britain has been accepted as a prospective member of the E.E.C.
the British public will have the final say in this matter and the chief opposition to entry will come from the Labour Party and the allpowerful trade union movement. This , section of the community, backed by their counterparts in Newt' Zealand, could- very well Wreck Mr Heath’s dream of prosperity by creating a political situation which would tall for an election that, as they hope, will bring Labour back to power. The shrewd Mr Wilson. is now using this country as an excuse for opposing Britain’s entry and should he and his party succeed in this venture Britain, and particularly New Zealand, will be the losers.— Yours, etc., X.U.K.
