University harriers retain Edmond Cup

Canterbury harriers had a very successful day in the annual Edmond Cup fixtures at the Wlngatul racecourse, Dunedin, on Saturday. Canterbury University excelled to retain the Edmond Cup for the senior teams contest in the alx-mile race, and, as well, won the Junior teams match. Canterbury runners had success in the other grade* also. A. Gempton and W. Sheddan (Olympic, Christchurch), were first and second respectively in the colts’ under-17 division. D. Greig (New Brighton) won the colts' under--15 race, and Miss R. Browne (Christchurch Harrier*) was runner-up in the girls’ under-15 race. The individual winner, B. Everton (twelfth), N. Clevelan (fourteenth), and B. Rollo (fifteenth), an improvement of three places on his effort last year. University took the junior fourman teams race with P. Hesp (fifth), M. Anderson (sixth), O. Hesp (ninth), and P. Morten (eleventh). Another Canterbury runner. M. Craighead (Christchurch), was seventh.
