Grand prix to Ickx

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Coppripht)

ZANDVOORT (Holland).

Belgium’s J. Ickx moved to within five points of J. Stewart, of Britain, the present leader in the world motor-racing drivers’ championship, when he sped to victory in the Dutch Grand Prix.

Driving brilliantly in conditions made treacherous by rain, Ickx took the chequered flag in his Ferrari eight seconds ahead of the Mexican, P. Rodriguez, driving a B.R.M. Another Ferrari, driven by Switzerland’s C. Regazzonl, was third, over a lap behind the first two. Stewart was one of the early casualties, spinning off the track on the third circuit. Although he stayed in the race, he could only finish eleventh and picked up no championship points.

H. Ganley (N.Z.), 8.R.M., was seventh, and D. Hulme (N.Z.) twelfth.
