Letters on television topics are subject to the rules applying to general correspondence. JOHN OLIViER I cannot understand why Channel 3 should discontinue a programme such as “Gardening with John Oliver.” This is a programme which has been enjoyed by countless people in the viewing area. Christchurch, “the garden city,” without a gardening programme is just not understood. John Oliver makes gardening look so easy because of his knowledge and his ability to put the message over in such a simple and instructive way, plus the
fact that his information is correct. Much of his success could be because he does most of his programmes out of doors and in the Every-
man’s garden. I do hope the powers that be can restore the ‘‘Gardening with John Oliver" programme very soon.—E. W. RODGERS. DOG DOSING
Channel 3 must be very short of material for the programme, “The South Tonight” to be reduced to showing such a revolting and literally sickening film as the one about dog dosing and hydatids—A. DRUMMOND.
