WELLINGTON, June 18.
The New Zealand Rugby Union had not offered the N.Z.B.C. live television rights of test Rugby matches, the Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Walker) said yesterday. The Minister of Customs (Mr Adams-Schneider) answering a Parliamentary question on behalf of Mr Walker, said the N.Z.B.C. had approached the New Zealand Rugby Football Union on a number of occasions without success.
Mr Walker said: "As Minister of Broadcasting f have no rights over the Rugby Football Union, nor has the N.Z.8.C.,” Mr Adams-Schnei-der told Mr J. A. Walding (Labour, Palmerston North), who had asked the question. A supplementary question from Mr J. L. Hunt (Labour, New Lynn), asking if the Minister agreed the Rugby Union was being unduly tight-fisted and penny-pinch-ing, was ruled out of order,
