FARM LOAN INQUIRY

Committee announced

WELLINGTON, June 18.

A three-man committee of inquiry into farm lending announced yesterday by the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) will comprise Mr D. C. Kirkpatrick, of Hastings (chairman); Dr W. M. Hamilton, of Warkworth and Mr J. G. Souness of Auckland. Mr Kirkpatrick is the chairman of the Forestry Development Council; Dr Hamilton was a former director-general of the D.S.I.R. and Mr Sounes is a past general manager of the Bank of New Zealand. The committee, announced in last week’s Budget, has until December 31, 1971, to recommend to the Minister of Finance any changes required to achieve the best use of available farm loan resources; the most desirable organisation for Government farm lending activities and to achieve co-ordination between the Government’s farm lending and farm advisory 'services.
