Leaders firm on N.Z. market
The New Zealand sharemarket was firmer in more active trading yesterday. The leaders were predominantly higher in price, while the less-active stocks dominated the falls.
Price changes were generally small, however, and the market could best be described as steady with a firm undertone, although a few stocks stood out.
Crothall improved another 10c to 230 c. The shares were traded to 185 c on March 31, but since then have made a good recovery in sporadic trading. Sharland jumped 20c to
200 c after trading around 180 c in the last few weeks. The company makes its balance on August 31. Trustees Executors, which has proposed a one for eight bonus issue, jumped 40c to 230 c.
Andrews and Beaven, C.P.D., C. 5.1., Feltex, H. 8., and Forests all edged up 2c, while Henderson and Pollard, Skellerup, and Tasman put on 5c each.
