Mr I. K. Martin, secretary of the Reserve Bank for nearly nine years, will retire to take up a short-term appointment as director-general and deputy chairman of directors of the Bank of Tanzania, the central bank of that country, under the aegis of the International Monetary Fund. He will leave New Zealand at the end of the month. -(PA.) Mr J. D. Simpson, of Turakina, was elected president of the Dominion agriculture section of Federated Farmers at its annual conference in Christchurch this week. The first North Islander to have held this position, he succeeds Mr S. G. Lister\ of Temuka, who has been president for four years. Mr A. L. Mulholland (Darfield) was elected senior vice-president, and Mr J. R. Cocks (Ashburton), junior vice-president.
