(N.Z. Presl Asun.—Copyright) LONDON.

Three former winners of the Queen’s Club men’s singles title will contest the Australian-dominated quarterfinals of the London grass court championships. J. Newcombe and R. A. Laver, both lacking grass court competition, are through to the quarter-finals after only one match each. Laver will meet another American, T. Gorman, and Newcombe will tackle the 19-year-old Brisbane Davis Cup player, R. Case. The other quarter-finals are between R. Emerson and O. Davidson, and M. Riessen and S. Smith, both Americans. In a second round match, R. Gonzales (United States) beat B. E. Fairlie (New Zealand), 9-7, 6-3. D. A. Parun (New Zealand) beat S. K. Towers (Rhodesia), 6-4, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3, in the south of England open lawn tennis championship at Eastbourne, where the French No. 1 player, G. Govern, beat the Australian, K. R. Rosewall, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6.
