Situation.—A ridge of high pressure extends from south-east Australia to just north of the North Island and a south-westerly airstream covers New Zealand. Forecast:
Canterbury: south-wasterlies, possibly freshening at times, in some coastal places, but winds otherwise light or moderate, mainly between west and south-west; a few scattered showers in the Alps but mainly fine, with moderate afternoon temperatures. Buller and Westland: moderate southwest winds predominating; variable skies; a few isolated showers; moderate day temperatures.
Nelson: south-westerlies, freshening at times; mainly fine, with moderate temperatures, but possibly a few showers on the western ranges. Marlborough: moderate westerly winds; fine, with moderate day temperatures. Outlook: fair in all areas. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
