LEADERS DRIFT ON UNEASY N.Z. SHAREMARKET

Falls outnumbered rises two to one in an uneasy market on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. There were a few firm spots, but the leaders were mostly marginally lower, and an occasional sharp loss was recorded.

Alex Harvey slumped 12c to 385 c, and Consolidated Brick was marked down 15c to 305 c.

Consolidated Plastics was 5c lower, as was Vibrapac Blocks, and SkeHerup lost 7c. Most of the falls by the leaders were confined to 1 or 2 cents, but Forest Products came back 4c to 376 c.

On the brighter side some of the less actively traded stocks made good gains and the insurance companies looked firm.

Crothall at 220 c, H.B. at 195 c, and Rex Consolidated at 360 c improved 10c each.

National Insurance rose 5c to 365 c and South British put on 2c at 572 c.

Ballins firmed 2c, O.D.T. 3c, and Dalgety gained 1c on its last day as a contributing share.
