Pakistan II high on sires’ list

The New Zealand sire, Pakistan 11, will be among the top stallions in Australia for the 1970-71 season. In the latest figures compiled by the Bloodhorse Breeders’ Association of Australia, Pakistan II is eighth on the list of sires of winners.
However, the list covers metropolitan meetings only to the end of Maj’, and he should improve his standing several places in the last two months of the season. Rajah Sahib, his champion, son In Australia, won the Stradbroke Handicap at Brisbane on Saturday. The prize money of almost 320,000 for this win will boost Pakistan ITs position. With luck, he could finish as high as third on the list ■ETTER BOY LEADS The first two positions on the list are in no doubt At the end of May the Victorian stallion Better Boy had a clear lead of 54 winners of 197 races for $236,315 in stakes. The young Victorian stallion Showdown, sire of the triple Derby winner Silver Sharpe, and Dual Choice and Royal Show, is second with 12 winners of 32J races and $217,640 in stakes. In third place was the New South Wales sire Red Gauntlet with figures of 41, 77 and 3153,247. He was closely foUowed by Rego, Smokey Eyes, Matrice, Good Brandy and Pakistan H (13, 38 and 3140,765). „ , The only other New Zealand sires among the top 25 were
